Frequently Asked Questions

We offer rolling admission at UCCS, so you can apply as late as a week before classes start. In order to get the best financial aid opportunities, we recommend applying up to a year in advance of the time you hope to attend. If you are applying less than a month before the semester starts, please contact us at transfer@uccs.edu. Please note that your application review cannot begin until we’ve received all of your official transcripts.

You are considered a transfer student if you have completed 24 credit hours from a regionally accredited institution and have graduated from high school. (Courses cannot be technical, remedial, vocational, or completed with a grade below C-. Military credit from a JST or CCAF transcript cannot be counted toward the 24 credit hour minimum.)

Whether you are coming from a community college or another four-year university, we perform unofficial transcript evaluations to help you understand which of your credits may transfer.

We also offer resources to further develop a picture of your ideal transfer.

We require transcripts from each and every collegiate institution you attended. Transcripts must be official and submitted directly to UCCS from the issuing institution.

Transcripts can be emailed to ugapp@uccs.edu or mailed to:

  • UCCS, ATTN: Admissions
  • 1420 Austin Bluffs Pkwy, Colorado Springs, CO 80918

To learn about how these credits will transfer, visit this resource.

If your transfer GPA is below 2.4, we recommend submitting a personal statement with your application describing your circumstances, and why you will be successful when you transfer to UCCS. Personal statements can be emailed to ugapp@uccs.edu.

We also want you to know that investing in a UCCS education will pay off. We have many different degree options that translate to in-demand careers and real-world opportunities. Please use our Tuition Bill Estimator to get started with calculating your cost. From there, Financial Aid can further outline what aid you are eligible for and what it will cover.

International/Foreign Post-Secondary Transcripts. We require transcripts from each and every collegiate institution attended during and after graduation from high school.

For all college-level coursework (s) outside the U.S., an official International Transcript Evaluation (course-by-course evaluation) by any NACES or AICE member is required.

If you will be studying at UCCS on an international visa, please direct admissions questions to international@uccs.edu

  1. You are considered a transfer student if you have 24 credit hours of completed, college coursework. While we will transfer in credit from a JST or CCAF transcript, these documents cannot be used for admission purposes, and do not count toward the 24 credit hour minimum. If you have less than 24 credits, you can still apply to UCCS; you will need to submit a high school transcript and ACT/SAT scores along with a freshman admissions application. Students who have not taken the ACT or SAT are encouraged to complete 24 credits at Pikes Peak Community College. Please email us for assistance with course selection: transfer@uccs.edu.

  2. UCCS provides veteran and military students the option of having their military transcripts reviewed for undergraduate academic credit and/or course waiver. The UCCS Military Transfer Credit Policy, creates a comprehensive transfer credit package for veteran and military students who have served in the United States Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, Navy or Coast Guard.

  3. The Military Transfer Credit policy is designed to reflect the academic content obtained through military instruction, including, but not limited to, basic training, noncommissioned, and staff noncommissioned officers courses, leadership training classes, international deployments, military language institutes, and the military equal opportunity programs (EOP). For students seeking to enter professional colleges (i.e. Nursing, Engineering, Business), military transfer credits can fulfill many elective requirements. However, if elective requirements are complete, this may limit the options for course selections during your program. This can be an issue for students who need to keep a full-time course load for GI Bill usage. Each student is encouraged to talk with an advisor to learn more about this option.

We have partnered with Pikes Peak Community College and Pueblo Community College to provide clear pathways for transfer students. We want to make your transition as simple as possible, which is why we’ve created guides specifically for your institution. Please view our guides, and feel free to schedule an appointment with a UCCS transfer counselor on your campus or ours!

UCCS has developed a transfer program that allows California Community College students to complete standard Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) requirements, then transfer to UCCS and complete their undergraduate degree program in selected programs in the College of Letters, Arts & Sciences.
