Astride Mukabagula

Astride is a refugee from the Congo who came to the United States in the pursuit of knowledge. With a passion for helping others, Astride transferred from Pikes Peak Community College to UCCS to continue her degree in accounting in the hopes of starting her own business, a non-profit and supporting her family.

“If you want to become a doctor, it takes a lot. If you’re not willing to work hard, you’re not going to achieve your goal. I decided to attend UCCS, and I’m happy I did. They knew I wanted to pursue my doctorate, and the teachers were top-notch and relatable. I met some really good people at UCCS, and not just while attending, but in the surrounding community, too. They changed my life forever.”

After transferring from Texas, Patrick became a star basketball player for the UCCS Mountains Lions. In between practices and games, Patrick made the play to become a successful dentist. After graduating from UCCS with his Bachelor of Science degree in 2008, he forged on, earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from CU Anschutz. Patrick says it’s a shot he couldn’t have taken without a foundation from UCCS.

Since starting her educational journey, Morgan has been looking for a home away from home. When she didn’t find it at Illinois State University, she decided to enroll in Pikes Peak Community College. Beautiful views, dedicated professors, and a thriving campus community eventually drew her to UCCS. Once here, she quickly found a sense of belonging and opportunity at our College of Business. She is currently pursuing a degree in Marketing. Upon graduating, she hopes to do data analysis.
