Grants are a form of gifted aid that is automatically awarded to students who meet certain eligibility requirements based on their FAFSA submission. Common grants include Federal Pell Grants and the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG). Federal Pell Grants are awarded to undergraduate students who display exceptional financial need and have not earned a bachelor's, graduate, or professional degree. Learn more about grants here.

If you are an in-state student going to school in Colorado, you are eligible for College Opportunity Fund stipend money. To receive the stipend, a student must apply for and authorize the use of the stipend at their respective institution. The stipend replaces traditional direct legislative appropriations to the state’s colleges and universities. Without the stipend, a student is responsible for the full amount of tuition which equals in-state tuition plus the stipend amount. The goal of the COF program is to bring awareness to Colorado resident students that state funds exist to help finance their college education and improve access with a particular emphasis on higher education/K-12 linkages and strengthening accountability.

Important Financial Aid considerations

Loans must be paid back

Students enrolling at UCCS are responsible for full payment of tuition and fees. Students should be prepared to pay their bills in full. If that is not possible, do not ignore the debt. Always make sure Student Debt Management (SDM) knows your current address and phone number, even if you don't think you will be returning to campus. Your ability to secure financing in the future may be adversely affected. Call Student Debt Management (719-255-3391) immediately to discuss payment options.

The best way to pay

Set up a manageable, recurring repayment plan through the Bursar’s office to help you avoid interest charges and pay back your loan over time. If you do not pay back your loan over time, you will have a past-due balance, which will affect your ability to be a student, get future financial aid, and even request transcripts. How to pay your bill

You may complete a one-time payment or enroll in a payment plan through the Bursar’s office or online, via your myUCCS Portal account. Enrolling in a payment plan requires a $40 fee for every enrollment. Students must re-enroll in a payment plan every semester. Accepted payment methods include an “e-check” Automatic Bank Payment (ACH), credit card, and debit card. Find more information on the Bursar website or contact the office today.
